"Waller
Family" website
Judging from the number of inquiries received, there are not
many "German
Wallers." Most of them seem to have arrived in America in the 17th and
18th
centuries. It would be fascinating to learn of German / English
connections between
1100 and 1600. There is a possibility that what we think of as German
Wallers are
descendants of earlier migrations from England to Germany.
We need a volunteer to help us with this page. Any Waller
descendant with
German Waller ancestors would be appreciated. It would be helpful if that
person spoke
German or had a German speaking friend. The page is not going to prosper
however until
some genealogist with a knowledge of German and Germany assumes
responsibility.

A German Waller family that settled in
Kansas
Wenzel Waller, founder of a Waller family in the United States,
was the son of
John and Margaret Waller , and was born in Austria, Province of Bohemia, in
the vicinity
of Bischofnitz between the city of Pilzen and the Bavarian border, on March
14, 1851. He
was one of a family of four children, his brothers being named John and
Joseph, and his
sister's name was Mary.
Wenzel was the only one of the family who came to the United
States. He
arrived at the age of seventeen in the year 1868, spent two years working on
a farm in
Iowa, and arrived at Seneca, Kansas, in the year 1870. The following year he
purchased the
120 acre tract of land near Oneida,Kansas, it being the South 120 acres of
the Southwest
Quarter, Section 24, Range 13, of Gilman Township. On November 27, 1872,
Wenzel married
Magdalena Kaiser.
Magdalena Kaiser (baptized Mary Magdalena) was the daughter of
Nicholas and
Margaret Kaiser, and was born at Trier, Germany, East of the Luxembourg
border, on
February 9, 1855. She was one of seven children, her brothers being Peter,
Nicholas and
William, and her sisters being Margaret, Appolonia and Mary. When Magdalena
was two years
old the family came to the United States and located in Wisconsin. In 1871
the family
moved to a farm east of Seneca, Kansas. Magdalena's father died on December
25, 1881, at
the age of 63, and is buried in the St. Peter and Paul Cemetery at Seneca,
Kansas.
Magdalena's mother died on June 22, 1902, at the age of 86, and is buried
beside her
husband.
In the year 1881, Wenzel Waller moved his family from the Oneida
farm to one
East of Seneca, Kansas, located in the Southeast Quarter of Section 19,
Range 13, and the
East half of the Southwest Quarter of Section 19, Range 13, of Gilman
Township. Here they
lived until Wenzel and Magdalena Waller retired to a home in the city of
Seneca, Kansas,
in the year 1913.
We have a sizable GEDCOM on this family which we will be happy
to send out.
