We do not know when the de Valers left Nottinghamshire County and the
estate given them by William the Conqueror. We also do not know which
Valers, if any, remained in Nottinghamshire. We know Henry de Valer
(c1295-1371), of Hockerton, should have lived in Nottingham. Henry's son,
Thomas Waller of Lamberthurst, while he may have been born in
Nottinghamshire, purchased Groombridge in Kent County, in 1360. A lot of
work needs to be done here.
